Around the World - The 42nd Stop, Siena, Tuscany, Italy, Europe
From Lugano, Switzerland we continued our trip to Italy. The first two nights (The 41st Stop) in amazing Lucca. No photos folks, succeeded in leaving my battery charger to Switzerland, and 'how to buy genuine Canon batteries or chargers in Italy' - would be another story.
From Lucca we drove to Siena, that is a city in Tuscany, and also the capital of the province of Siena. Siena's heart is its central piazza Il Campo, known also worldwide for the famous Palio di Siena horse races hosted twice every summer.
The Campo is dominated by the red Palazzo Pubblico and its tower, Torre del Mangia. The Torre del Mangia heights to 87 meters, and offers the most beautiful views of the city. The climb can be a bit tricky, as there are not only over 400 steps to climb, but also parts really steep and narrow. Yet the amazing 360° view from the top is absolutely worth the effort.
And hey, a 3-year-old can do it.
