The 23rd Stop: Dunedin, New Zealand. Five nights in Dunedin, South Island's second biggest city. Much to do and see, but just a quick visit to the Otago Museum and then strolling in the city and chilling in our beautiful rental house. And then off to the Otago Peninsula. Sandfly Bay is a bay with large sand dunes on the eastern side of the peninsula and at the northeastern end of the bay there is a wooden hide to view one of the world's rarest penguins, the Yellow-Eyed Penguin, only found in New Zealand. A hard track in soft sand, but in one late evening my determined-to-see-one-penguin-three-year-old really did it! (Mega proud of him!) Then to get a closer look, visited also the Yellow-Eyed Penguin Conservation Reserve ("Penguin Place") with viewing tunnels, hides and tracks, in the Taiaroa Head at the end of the peninsula. Hoiho! The Mission accomplished!
