The 22nd Stop: Invercargill, New Zealand. No hustle or bustle in this quiet city favourably placed on the Southern Scenic Route and on our way to Dunedin. Also a good place to stay and to go explore Catlins and its famous animal habitants; New Zealand fur seals and Hooker's sea lions, endangered Hector's Dolphins and the rare Yellow-Eyed Penguin. We did spot one mighty sea lion at the beach in Waipapa Point and several dolphins playing (with swimmers) in Porpoise Bay, but not so much luck with the penguins in Curio Bay. Though the Curio Bay is best known of it's some 180 million years old petrified forest that alone was well worth the visit.
