Around the World - The 40th Stop, Lugano, Switzerland, Europe
From Stuttgart, Germany we continued our journey to Switzerland. On our way to the city of Lugano, we stopped for lunch in Lucerne, that is the capital of the Canton of Lucerne, in north-central Switzerland and in country’s German-speaking area. Lucerne lies on the most beautiful surroundings: on the shore of Lake Lucerne, within sight of Mount Pilatus and Rigi of the Swiss Alps. Lucerne was stunning. No wonder it has been a popular tourist destination for long.
We stopped in Lugano for two nights. Lugano is in the canton of Ticino, in southern Switzerland and in the Italian-speaking area. Lugano locates on a beautiful lake - Lake Lugano and is surrounded by stunning mountains, the Lugano Prealps. We weren’t so lucky with the weather, but enjoyed this charming little city a lot. Our kids had extra fun, as the city had organised a special Easter happening for the small ones. (Check out here my Easter Bunny and His Little Chick.)
On the day we left Lugano, it was the most beautiful sunny morning, so we took a funicular railway up to 912 metres, up to Monte San Salvatore. Had a breakfast with a view, I could say.
Next stop Lucca, Italy, Europe.
