Around the World - The 39th Stop, Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Europe
From Frankfurt, Hessen – we continued our European tour towards Stuttgart, where we then had a quick two nights stop.
Stuttgart is Germany’s sixth largest city. It’s the state capital of Baden-Württemberg and located in Southwest Germany, between green forests and beautiful vineyards. Stuttgart is primarily associated as an industrial city with world-famous automobile companies, but it’s also a cultural city with renowned State Opera and ballet programs and exceptional art collections at State Galleries.
As we had only a very brief visit to this city, we didn't have enough time to enjoy those Stuttgart’s famous cultural attractions (a good question also is: 'A ballet with kids aged 1 & 3?'), nor the numerous vineyards stretching around the city. We spent the first evening in the old town (one of us chasing pigeons) and its surroundings, so just a brief look to the city and little driving in lovely hilly landscape.
The second day we had reserved for a nearby locating little city called Metzingen, famous for its factory-outlets with clothing at reduced prices. Hugo Boss was founded in Metzingen and the first to start its factory outlet in the city. Boss was then soon followed by other famous brands and today there are over 80 of these outlet-stores, so needless to say how easily the whole day (and too much money) was spent.
Still freezing in 'terribly cold' +15ºC weather.
Next stop Lugano, Ticino, Switzerland, Europe.
